These terms cover your use of this website and every project you start with Bowline Labs. Your written proposal adds the details for your project, and if the two ever disagree, the proposal wins.
About these terms
"We" and "us" means Bowline Labs, a trading name of Sameer Ahmed, a sole proprietorship based in India. "You" means the person or business using this website or working with us. By booking a Blueprint or paying an invoice, you agree to these terms.
Using this website
The content of this website is for general information. Prices shown are our standard prices; the price for your project is the one in your proposal. The mockups on this site show sample data, not a specific client. You may not copy the site's design or content for commercial use without our permission.
Proposals
Every project starts with a written proposal that sets out the scope, price, timeline and what we need from you. A proposal is valid for 30 days unless it says otherwise.
The Blueprint
- The Blueprint costs $499 and takes about 3 working days. You get a written scope, a clickable prototype of every screen and a fixed quote.
- If you go ahead with the build within 60 days, the full $499 is credited against it.
- If you do not go ahead, you keep the Blueprint and can use it with anyone.
Fixed price and scope
- The price in your proposal is fixed for the scope in your signed-off Blueprint.
- If you want something added or changed during the build, we will tell you in writing what it costs and how it moves the launch date before we do it. Nothing extra is charged without your written agreement.
- Small adjustments that do not add work (wording, colours, ordering) are included.
Payment
- Sprints and Launch builds are paid 50% to start and 50% at launch, unless your proposal says otherwise.
- Invoices are due within 7 days, in USD, GBP, EUR or AED. You pay any bank or transfer fees on your side, and any taxes that apply in your country.
- Care plans are billed monthly in advance.
- If an invoice is more than 14 days overdue, we may pause work until it is paid. The launch date moves by the length of the pause.
Timelines and the late-delivery guarantee
- The clock starts on the first working day after you sign off the Blueprint and pay the first invoice. Working days are Monday to Friday.
- If we launch after the agreed date, you do not pay the second 50% of that build. This is the full remedy for late delivery.
- The date moves day for day when we are waiting on you: for example feedback, content, approvals or access that take more than one working day to arrive, or a pause for an overdue invoice.
- The date also moves if you change the scope (agreed in writing first), or if a third party outside our control blocks us, such as an app store review or a supplier outage.
- "Launch" means the agreed scope is deployed and usable. For mobile apps, it means submitted to the App Store and Google Play; review times are outside our control.
- The guarantee applies to Automation Sprints, MVP Sprints and Launch builds. Custom projects follow the milestones in their proposal.
What we need from you
- One person who can make decisions and reply within one working day.
- The content, data and accounts the project needs, on time.
- Accounts in your name for anything you will keep: hosting, domains, app store developer accounts and the third-party software we connect to. You pay those providers directly.
- Confirmation that you have the right to use the material and data you give us.
Who owns the work
- You own the code, designs and documents we create for you. We work in your repository and accounts where possible, or move everything over at handover.
- Open-source libraries and third-party services stay under their own licences.
- We keep our general know-how and any tools we built before your project. Where some of that is inside your product, you get a permanent, free licence to use and change it.
- We will only name you or show your project publicly with your written permission.
Confidentiality
We keep your business information, data and plans confidential, and everyone on our team who works on your project is bound by the same duty. We are happy to sign your NDA before a call.
Fixes and support
- After launch we fix bugs in the agreed scope at no cost for 14 days (30 days on Launch builds).
- After that, fixes and new work are covered by the care plan or quoted separately.
- A bug is something that does not work as agreed in the Blueprint. New features and changes are not bugs.
Third-party services
Many projects connect to software we do not control, such as booking systems, payment providers, WhatsApp and app stores. Their prices, rules and APIs can change. If a change breaks something we built, we will tell you what it takes to fix it, but we are not responsible for the third party's outage or policy change itself.
Liability
- Our total liability for any project is limited to the amount you paid us for that project.
- We are not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits, lost data you did not back up, or lost business opportunities.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending an engagement
- Either of us can end a project with written notice. You pay for the work done up to that point, and we hand over everything built so far.
- Care plans can be cancelled at any time and end at the close of the month already paid.
- Refunds are covered on our refunds and cancellations page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Guwahati, Assam, India have jurisdiction. Before going to court, we both agree to try to settle any disagreement by talking it through in good faith for at least 30 days.
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your project is the one in force when you signed your proposal.
